Sold Cards Then Bought Cards

I had a flurry of texts and phone calls on the night before the Gonzaga show, Sunday, June 12, 2016., which is usually a good sign for a show. Some folks wanted to sell me stuff, others wanted to buy, and others just had general questions about the show. Honestly, the night before a show is not a good time to contact me because I am usually hustling to get things priced, organized and filling want lists. It is much better to contact me earlier in the week. Though if you do call, I'll try my best to get back to you.

Turns out, it was a pretty good show. My sales were a wee bit better than April, making this my best show of the year. Rod had contacted me earlier in the week and I worked on filling his want list. He ended up buying a ton of cards. Thanks Rod! Another big sale went to new customer Chuck from Fond Du Lac. I helped Chuck complete his 1978 Topps baseball set, helped fill quite a few holes in his 1976 Topps baseball set then he bought my entire 1973 Topps baseball binder. Thanks Chuck!

Jack showed up for my newly reloaded 1967 Philadelphia football binder but realized he forgot his want list, so he ended up buying some 1973 and 1974 Topps football. A new customer pulled quite a few of those 1967 Philadelphia's. Robin purchased some as well. Tim was in from Madison and purchased some 1958 Topps baseball.

A bunch of my regulars, whose names I always forget, found a bunch of cards in my mid-1960s baseball binders. Guys, please remind me of your names. I lost my short term memory years ago. My autograph hound who buys basketball regularly found some cards. Jason found some cards in my newly reloaded 1952 Topps and 1952 Bowmans. I sold a 1958 Topps Warren Spahn to a regular customer. Terry found some cards for his 1962 set.

With my pocket filled with money, I then purchased a large box of cards featuring 1950, 1951, 1052 Bowman and 1952, 1953 and 1954 Topps. The cards were off-grade but there were some big names in there like Jackie Robinson, Bob Feller, Ernie Banks and Hank Aaron. I've already priced the 1953 Topps Robinson and Feller, pictured below, and will have them ready to go on Saturday at the Clarion.

There was a real nice crowd at Gonzaga, I was busy all day. The show seemed to die down around 1 p.m. I was out the door by 2 p.m. After the show, I weaved my way around Milwaukee, stopping at a few places to drop off flyers for my Clarion show.

Speaking of the Clarion show, we have a nice group of dealers lined up for Saturday, June 18, 2016. Show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As always, admission is free. I will have 1953 Topps baseball reloaded. I also plan on working on 1969 Topps football. I'll have some new stuff for my display cases. I also plan on pricing some publications.

A huge thank you to everyone who bought cards from me at Gonzaga. I hope you all come out Saturday for the Clarion show. It should be a great show!!
