Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions for the monthly Sports Card Show at the Salvation Army Community Center, 8853 S. Howell, Oak Creek, WI. With this section, I hope to limit the number of phone calls, texts and emails that come in right before the show... at my most busiest time. I just can't answer questions right before the show, I am much too busy. Please peruse the following and hopefully your questions about the show are answered here:
(1) CAN I BRING IN CARDS TO SELL TO THE DEALERS AT YOUR SHOW?
YES! Please bring your cards in to sell to the dealers, just about all of the dealers are buying. I specifically only purchase vintage cards from the 1960's and older. Here is an important tip when selling your cards to dealers: research the "sold" price on eBay, NOT the current listing prices. There are many cards listed on eBay for $150 that will never sell for $150. If you look at the "Sold" listings, you will see that these same cards actually sell for $50, not $150.
(2) WHAT IS THE VALUE OF MY KOBE BRYANT ROOKIE?
As a vintage dealer, I just don't know the value of any cards newer than 1979. I am not the person to ask about modern cards. Again, the best way to determine the value of both modern and vintage cards is to check the "sold" listings on eBay. Also, there are many modern dealers at the Salvation Army show who would be happy to talk about your Kobe Bryant rookies or any other modern card.
(3) WHAT IS THE COST OF A TABLE AT THE SHOW?
Six-foot dealer tables are $30. All new dealers must bring their own tables because the venue does not have enough to go around.
(4) DO YOU HAVE TABLES AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT SHOW?
No. All sold out!
(5) CAN I SELL MEMORABILIA, NASCAR, NON-SPORTS CARDS, AUTOGRAPHS AND THE LIKE AT THE SHOW?
YES! If you purchase a table, sell whatever you want on it.
(6) WHERE IS THE SHOW LOCATED?
The show is held on the First Saturday of every month at the Salvation Army Community Center, 8853 S. Howell, in Oak Creek, WI.
(7) WHAT ARE THE HOURS?
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(8) WHEN ARE YOU GETTING ANOTHER AUTOGRAPH SIGNER?
I'm working on it and hope to have someone lined up soon.
(9) IS THERE AN AUCTION?
No, and that is by design. I think auctions distract from the show. I enjoy the ability to talk with customers without being drowned out by an auctioneer.
(10) DO YOU CHARGE AN ADMISSION FEE?
Admission is a $1 donation to the Salvation Army.
(11) WHY DON'T YOU DO A RAFFLE?
Good idea. I may in the future.
(12) CAN DEALERS BRING IN EXTRA CARD TABLES?
No.
(13) ARE THE GRADING COMPANIES GOING TO BE THERE GRADING CARDS?
No, but Lake Country Cards will submit your cards to the grading companies on your behalf. Visit them in the back hallway of every show.
(14) HOW MANY DEALERS DO YOU HAVE AT THE SHOW?
Usually around 120.
(15) HOW MANY TABLES ARE THERE?
185.
(16) CAN YOU PUT MY DEALER TABLE NEXT TO DENNIS?
I agree, Dennis is a great guy but I can't put everybody next to Dennis. Dealers, please don't ask me to place your table next to a specific dealer. This thing is hard enough for me to set up without taking special requests.
(17) CAN YOU PLACE ME IN THE SAME SPOT AS LAST MONTH?
Dealers, I will try to place you in the same spot but I can't guarantee it. Like I said, this thing is tough to set up especially when you guys show up early and I'm still setting up the tables.
(18) CAN YOU PLACE MY DEALER TABLES IN THE GYM?
You will have to wait. The dealers set up in the gym are the ones that have been continually setting up at the show for years. When someone drops out, I move a dealer from the meeting room into the gym.
(19) CAN I GET THREE DEALER TABLES?
No. Dealer tables are limited to two per dealer.
(20) IS YOUR SALVATION ARMY SHOW JUST BASEBALL OR ARE THERE OTHER SPORTS?
Dealers sell items from all sports and there are even n0n-sports items available.
(21) IS A REPRESENTATIVE FROM PANINI GOING TO BE AT THE SHOW?
No.
(22) ARE THERE GOING TO BE NON-SPORTS CARDS FOR SALE AT THE SHOW?
Yes.
(23) IS THERE ANY NASCAR FOR SALE AT THE SHOW?
Sometimes.
(24) WILL THERE BE LUKA DONCIC ROOKIE CARDS AT THE SHOW?
Usually. There are 120-plus dealers at the show and I do not know what they will bring out to sell at each show. Come on out and look around!
(25) WILL THERE BE ANY POKEMON CARDS AT THE SHOW?
Yes, we have a TON of Pokémon!
(26) CAN I USE PAYPAL AT THE SHOW?
Well that is up to each individual dealer. Some may accept PayPal and others may not.
